Theatre owners are trying everything they can think of to generate more ticket sales. I feel bad for them. It's not their fault that movies generally suck nowadays.

But it is their fault they think 20 minutes of commercial before the previews is ok while charging me more for admission. At least at home I can fast-forward through them.
I refuse to go to my local theater anymore for two simple reasons:
- They let people haul in their babies and children to late night shows. If you can't afford a babysitter, you probably shouldn't be going out anyway and the theater shouldn't be letting families into a 10:50PM show for an R-rated movie.
- A complete lack of common courtesy for other theater-goers. People either won't shut-up or just have a lack of consideration for their surroundings. Last movie I went to, some guy with a group of 6 other people fell asleep and started snoring in the row behind us. I turned around and they just looked at me like "what are we supposed to do." Theater ushers could greatly help with this.
I hope that the decline in theater attendance forces chains to continue to re-evaluate their business model. They can't control bad movies, but they can do a much better job preventing a bad movie-going experience.
